Discover More Information On Amber Jubilee Ninebark
The Amber Jubilee Ninebark creates an excellent focal point for your landscape. This medium-sized shrub is prized for its unique foliage colors. The bush features vibrant greens, yellows, and orange colors. Those thrilling shades will remain in your yard throughout the season. As the new foliage emerges, the leaves will unfurl with a spectacular color show ranging from purple to red. The textured edges are multi-lobed for a more dramatic look to your outdoor spaces. Since the Amber Jubilee ninebark is related to the rose, the buds will produce white flowers with pale yellow centers.
Plant Attributes
These shrubs are a favorite treat for butterflies, and you will see them sip the flowers in the spring. Before the foliage fades away, the leaves will be washed in a touch of lime green colors. Once the autumn season arrives, the foliage will change into harvest tones of yellows, reds, oranges, and purples. The Amber Jubilee Ninebark continues to provide a show in the winter as red seeds remain on the branches. This shrub was named in honor of Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee, and it is one way to introduce some royalty to your landscape.
Landscape Use
With its bold range of colors, the Amber Jubilee ninebark will stand out as a border in your outdoor space. While the shapes of the leaves are rounded, the branches will arch as it matures. This shrub makes a great rounded archway or accent as the foundation of your outdoor landscape. If you are looking for a little privacy in your yard, a single shrub can act as a screening plant. Several Amber Jubilee ninebarks can be used as a continuous hedge, but you will want to keep them two to three feet apart.
The Amber Jubilee ninebark is a colorful deciduous shrub that makes an excellent choice as a screening plant or hedge. From the springtime into the fall, you can enjoy the colors of this shrub. Amber Jubilee ninebarks can be mixed with flowers, trees, and evergreen shrubs. The yellow and orange tones will offer an excellent complement to many other natural ornamentals. If you are looking for a more rugged look, you should consider adding some groundcover in front of these shrubs. These shrubs allow you to experiment around your landscape. For example, the Amber Jubilee ninebark is an excellent choice to help you start planting an ombre-colored hedge.
Planting & Care
These ninebarks are easy to grow in any environment. The Amber Jubilee ninebark will have the best color in full sunshine, but it can tolerate those partial shade areas. This shrub handles most soil types without any issues. The Amber Jubilee ninebark can thrive in most climates, but it does struggle with those hot and humid 8 to 9 zones. Once it is established, dry or wet soils are not a problem for this ninebark. However, you will want to keep your shrub stress-free by giving it some extra water during those drought periods.
When your shrub is young, you will need to provide it with additional water. As the roots begin to establish in the soil, it will be tolerant of drier soils. The Amber Jubilee ninebark really does not require any shearing, and it will look best in its natural form. However, those older shrubs may need to be pruned about every three years. This pruning should be done in the early spring. You will want to take out the oldest stems from the ground level. If you are going to prune more regularly, aim to remove about one-third of the oldest stems per year. The younger stems should be left in place. You can prune at any time of the year without harming the plant.
